Use desiccants to protect valuable equipment and
metals from moisture damage in enclosed storage spaces. Most damage to stored
valuables and supplies is caused by trapped humidity... be it a safe, gun,
camera or telescope case, tool box, storage container, display case, shipping
container, locker, silver drawer, etc. Humidity turns into almost
imperceptible condensation which causes irreparable damage. Desiccants prevent
moisture related problems before they begin. (Manufacturers know this. That's
why they often include a small packet in shipments.) Desiccants create a
protective shield of dry air within any enclosed storage area. They act like a
dehumidifier that doesn’t need to use any electricity. Most desiccants can be
re-used, all that needs to be done to “re-activate” them is to put then in the
oven and dry them out.
